Bright Ideas...

So on Saturday I made a purchase...

I don't know how to sew. I have never sewn before in my life!
So I'm not really sure why I bought this... But hey! I have big plans!

I have many friends that can sew and are willing to teach me. They also said it's really easy and I should get the hang of it pretty quickly.
If not, I will look into having some lessons...

Ever made a crazy or obscure purchase just on a whim?

  1. Fantastic purchase!! You'll love learning to sew :))

I'm not much of a 'big purchase on a whim' kind of person. I'm such a muller which is why my family ended up buying my sewing machine for my birthday. I do buy little useless items all the time though haha!!

  3. how cool! I learnt to sew when I was a teenager and it was heaps of fun.
It's been ages since I've done it but have seriously been thinking about buying a machine and getting back into it.
Not sure how much I will even remember, but I have a vision of myself whipping up gorgous clothes for the baby, beautiful quiltys and pillowcases for the home and altering crazy op shop finds into wearable vintage!

Take your friends up on their offer of lessons and let us know how you go!

  4. oh if only I lived closer!!!

Mine is still sitting in it's box (I did slit open the masking tape on Saturday!) and I got it in May for my birthday. I am terrible.

I hope you go better than me. I'm moving in the right direction now though I have thread and fabric and a wonky sewing table :p

  5. I can barely sew on a button. My mum also never used to know how to sew, but she decided to learn late in life ... and now she is well into it, and patchwork queen. She makes quilts for sick children in hospital & for people she knows when they have babies etc. So, she doesn't make clothes - but is right into the patchwork.

It has become such a big part of her life - a real passion - hopefully it does for you too!
