When we bought our old house in Sydney we also bought the dining table that was in the house! We have loved that table for as long as we have owned it and still do, but felt it was time for something a little bigger.
When we moved and bought new chairs for that table we decided to buy 8 chairs. we could squeeze 8 around the table if needed so it was handy to have the extra seats.
When we moved to our new house we knew we wanted and needed a bigger table.
Looking around I found just what I wanted! Woo! for $3000+ Boo.
My brother in-law who is just starting out in business said no probs! I can make that! He had made their dining table! (He is an upholsterer by trade)
We have waited what feels like AGES! But it has been so totally worth the wait!
As the business is up and running I will give some more details but you can find him on Facebook by searching for 'Marriott Furniture/Upholstery (link if it works https://www.facebook.com/pages/Marriott-FurnitureUpholstery/1504260329824052?fref=ts )

Now the list of things I still have for him to make/build/re-upholster... It's a mile long!
After we pulled out the wardrobe in Lach's room and had the new ones installed we then had to get a plasterer in. That proved difficult! Just trying to get someone to return our call. Finally we had someone in this week. After looking at the cornice, it was noted that it was a botch job last time and to find matching cornice was going to prove difficult. After a discussion it works out only slightly more expensive to just replace all the cornice!
Plus the ceiling in the main BR is quite cracked, the ceiling rose off centre (and blue!) and has no cornice at all!
Markus (the plasterer) repaired the wall, fire place and ceiling and has ordered the new cornice and ceiling rose which will be installed in about 2 weeks.
There was way way too many ceiling roses to choose from! The main BR is actually quite small due to the WIR so we wanted something quite simple so it didn't overtake the room.
The plaster on the outside of the chimney is in a pretty bad state and the plasterer has done the best he can. He suggested perhaps making a feature of it using wallpaper? So this might be something we will look into, but we will get everything painted first.
Good old Target! You can always rely on them for some great good quality kids wear. (I've even bought myself a few things from time to time!)
Currently an extra 25% off sale stock (kids, mens & womens wear) PLUS use the code ILOVETARGET and get an extra 20% off your online orders!
Just ordered a few bits and bobs for the kids!

I have some silly expensive taste for my kids (and me!) and they have lots of lovely brands hanging in their wardrobes, but I just love adding a few quality pieces in from places like Target. They wash and wear so well, they are cute and a great fit.

I have found that Target pants really suit Lachie's short and tubby shape so I stock up when I find some awesome prints.
Plus Abigail is my little twirling ballerina so we just bought one of the Collette Dinnigan for Target tutu dresses. they are $15 then I got the extra 20% off! AWESOME!
In the main bedroom we are pretty lucky to have a small WIR. I suppose this is really the only thing that makes it he main bedroom is the WIR! It is actually the smallest bedroom BECAUSE of the WIR!

'Lachie's Room' Had some old rickety poorly made wardrobes, and 'Abi's Room' NONE! Where is a girl to hang all her dresses! So we knew we needed to sort these out ASAP.

And just this week they were installed! Along with us removing and replacing the small cupboard space in the front entrance (I'm all about STORAGE!)

They still need to be painted. We were quite surprised when the majority of companies quote as MDF raw doors! The already painted once are EXXY + and seeing as we are planning a massive paint-a-thon the sensible decision was to go with the raw finish.

Still lots of ceiling and plasterwork repairs to go in Lachie's room. Plus we are reinstating the fireplace in both his room and ours.

We will put in 'working' ones, but we don't plan to use them as the house has ducted heating and real fireplaces in bedrooms? not a good idea!

Today this happened. And it wasn't cheap! But we couldn't be happier with the finish (well after a coat of paint!)
The side panel was really badly damaged and falling apart. And the front door had just had some plain glass in it. We wanted to repair and replace what needed to be done. The end result is wonderful! Such a shame it gets hidden behind the fly wire/security door (yes, that's on the list to replace - way down the list, along with having the front of the house re-pined)

The period also known as Federation. Houses built at this time draw on both Victorian and Queen Anne features. The follow a similar plan to Victorian houses. Many Mid Victorian ornaments are still used, but are less ostentatious than in previous decades. (Via Heritage Victoria)

And so that's what we are working with but with 21st century luxuries. The front of the house we are trying to keep as 'original' as possible and the back of the house (which is an extension anyway!) will be some glorious modern renovation with an industrial feel (in my mind it works anyway!)

So far we haven't done much! We have only been here since December and you lose so much time during the festive season and then businesses closing down for holidays etc...

We have a long list of things going on. Some done. Some waiting on things. Others on a list.
One thing so far that we have done and that we absolutely LOVE is having x 2 original Certificates of Title for the property professionally framed. There is tow of these and they have been framed with glass on the back on them so you can see all the old details of owners & transfers etc... They are hanging on the wall in the front entrance. It was a SUPER EXPENSIVE exercise but worth every penny we think! (Sorry, no picture of the back, getting the 2 frames to be square and straight was no easy task!
Of late I have had quite a few people say to me "Start your blog again!"
This is something I have been toying with for a while. I thought about starting a whole new one. But I wasn't sure that seemed quite right either.
This blog was a half secret from quite a few people for a long time. I wasn't ashamed! I just had it as a little something for me (& the big wide world!)
So! Here we go again!

What's been happening?
Well for me, we finally purchased a new home (old home) in Melbourne and I am now (still) happily married with a 3.5 yo little girl! (Abs has been around as long as this blog!) and we now home Lach's! our cheeky adorable little 1 yo boy! (I promise I will finish his birth story!)

Join me on the road to our mini renovations of our home, watch my beautiful children grow, maybe a few recipes along the way (not all about the Thermomix! I PROMISE!), some shopping and sale bargains and a sneak peek into the world of my life.

I think the blog needs an overhaul and a facelift, so if anyone can steer me the the direction of someone to help with all that I would be forever grateful. Technology and I just don't mix!

Until Tomorrow (or the next day)
I'm going to start this one all the way back at my 20 week scan.
My husband and I both had an inkling we were having a boy. We really didn't care either way! Sometimes I really wanted a boy, and other times a girl. A girl so that Abi had a sister and got to experience the sister relationship. I have a sister (I have 2 bothers too!) but my sister and I are close. Best friends you could say.
Anyway, we went as a family. Abi didn't care much except had been adamant whenever you asked her "baby sister or brothr Abi?" the answer was always always SISTER!
She didn't care much for the scan preferring to play the ipad.
The sonographer we had was lovely. Are you sure? Are you sure she kept asking! YES! We are SURE! And there he was! Our little boy! He's a big one she exclaimed! But perfect. My DD was changed from the 24th of Feb to the 20th.
A few weeks after that scan we received a letter from the hospital detailing that there was some dilation detected and that I was to head back to the hospital on the 27th of December for a growth scan. Nothing to worry about we were told.

The 27th of December I though! Pft! I'll be on holidays! So I rang and could only change the appointment to the 24th at 4pm. 4pm on Christmas Eve! NO WAY! SO I decided to book in to a Private clinic and get the scan done there. Nothing to worry about they said.

So that we did. Off to a private clinic. My mum came with me, no point Erin being there! Nothing to worry about they had said. Mum had an appointment and had to leave before they called me in. So it was jsut Abi and I.
The look of concern on the faces were enough to send me into a tailspin. They were terrible. Didn't explain anything. Just said they would send the details to the hospital and they will call me.
They never sent those results. I chased and chased all day! Finally they do through and the obstetrician from the hospital called me to explain. He was amazing. I was fraught. We went in the next day at 9am (Christmas Eve) to meet with them and become a 'high risk pregnancy'

What was detected was classed as very dilated ureters and to put it simply the kidneys and bladder were not in great shape. I was 32 weeks.
Having all this detected in utero was amazing and a blessing really. That sonographer at 20 weeks did a good job.
We had lots of meetings and also sent to The Royal Children's Hospital to meet with the head of the Nephrology team (Renal)
We were given lots of information and were told that we wouldn't know the severity until he was born.
I am so thankful for a fairly newly formed friendship I have made in the past year and as luck??? would have it her husband is a renal Doctor. She's a Doctor too and together they have been a pillar of support and strength for my husband and I from both a friendship point of view but the 'medical' side and the understanding of that has been something you can't pay for.

At around the time of Lachie's (still not named at that stage!) diagnosis we were were also told the rental property we were living in was to be sold as vacant possession and we had to be out by the 16th (i think?) of Feb! It was one thing after the other at the time and getting hard to cope.
We were lucky enough to secure a new place basically straight away (thanks to a local real estate agent that is a client of dads!) and we planned to move on the 10th of January.
And that's right when the hot ht hot heatwave hit Melbourne. OMG! It was bad. There was lots of swimming at mum and dads and with hot water that couldn't be connected and an evap cooler not working properly we didn't even spend a night in the new house till a least a week later!

Because we have decided that we really only (think) we want 2 children and I HATED being pregnant with Abi I decided to do a maternity shoot. Just for myself. I have the pics but don't think I'll ever get any printed and definitely wont be displaying any!
The shoot was booked for the 18th of Jan. 35 weeks! Perfect!
I'd had a pretty shitty start to the year so had kind of put it to the back of my mind and had given it no thought. The day rolls around and I actually went and had my makeup done! I was feeling really crap. I just couldn't pin point what it was. The shoot was nice. I didn't feel comfortable. I felt like I just wanted to curl up into a ball and sleep. Sleep somewhere cool. I was over the reflux and heart burn and the lingering in the back of my mind about what was going to happen when Lachie was born was really concerning me. (Yep, we had finally had a discussion and decided if it looked like a 'Lachie' then that would be his name!)
Feeling crap and the heat still bad we headed to mum and dads again that afternoon to swim. Home and to sleep I wasn't sleeping well and was getting bad period pain type cramps.
The next day being Saturday my husband always works (his industry) and I was fine with him going off to work. I called the hospital while he was still at home and they suggested I head in for some monitoring and didn't want to risk anything with my living 30 mins from the hospital and my first labour being a short one. So I dropped Abi up to my mum and dads and headed on into hospital! I drove myself! I'm crazy! Mum was wanting to come with me but I don't know why I just wanted to be on my own.

So off into hospital I went. I was hooked up to a monitor and the obstetrician confirmed I was 3 cm's dilated and was being sent upstairs and being admitted.
By that night the pains were subsiding. I had sent my husband home to look after Abi and I just wanted to be home too. So I was discharged and told if it was to change at all to come straight back on in.

That night the cramping was pretty bad. But I just kept it to myself and let my husband and Abi sleep. All the next day I ate icypoles and layed on the couch and rested and slept on and off. It was still hot.
But early evening it was getting uncomfortable and Erin suggested we time what we thought were contractions? (Doesn't this all seem odd! I'd had a baby before you would think I'd know! But she was an induction. no pains prior to waters breaking and then it was all over within 2.5 hours!)
So these what we thought were contractions seemed to be 8-10 mins apart. I was not feeling great at all so we jumped in the car (I had finally decided to pack a hospital bag that morning!) and dropped Abi to mum and dads and headed to the hospital.

In triage they kinda went 'hmm..... think we will take you straight to delivery' and off we went.
I had the worst midwife! OMG! She decided to tell me I wasn't in labour but had a UTI!
I was left alone for a long long time and she 'tisk tisked' me when I'd move and the monitor was shifted and beeped for her to come and fix it.
10pm - SHIFT CHANGE! WOO! and a lovely midwife came on board. Still waiting..... Finally after hours the OB came and said oh um.... Your 8-9 cm's dilated! I didn't think my waters had broken and it seems that she had just by checking.
I was left for longer and longer and the time kept ticking on. I wanted to push! I wanted this baby out and was told not to!
Finally they agreed to check and got the fright of their lives! FULLY dilated! I knew it! Quiet achiever they said! (Well I was quiet up till about then!)

The main concern was that I was technically giving birth to a premie baby and they needed peads and specialists there ASAP. They needed the machines could he not breath on his own, they needed to very quickly run us through everything and what was going to happen after he was born. They needed to speak to us about him being transferred almost straight away to NICU.

Ok.... This is really long. I'm going to stop there for a bit. I promise it wont be months till I continue. But I need to gather my thoughts again. just a day! I promise!

It's been. Little while and I've fallen off the 52 project wagon (I plan to get up to date!) but I'm enjoying being at home again with both kids and being a mum!
In and out of hospital with L and his operation and currently toilet training. Oh the dread but it's time.

So lots going on and lots in my mind.
When I finally get the hang of it all I'll be back!

But!
My husband is amazing and a wonderful support.
Abi is a delight! (& entirely frustrating with this toilet training)
And Lachie is just beautiful! And FINALLY smiling! Not often but he is!

One on one time 'selfies' this week.

Abigail - Once again a pure delight! A little gem and absolute trooper this week after 'Baby Lachie was re-admitted to hospital. Love singing our 'family cheeky monkeys' song with you! "OUCH!"

Lachlan - there's one bonus to you being in hospital... Lots of one on one time and cuddles without the big osier getting jealous. Matching PJ's is always a winner too!
I'm working on it.
I have a lot still to digest.
He only just came home this week after 22 days in hospital.
If you are interested to know a little more here is an article from a medical source that explains a little more about his condition.

There will be a birth story and I am sure I'll share it. He deserves one!

For now we are just enjoying getting to know him and having him HOME!
(Thankfully a panicked call to Dr friends and you taking full oral feeds for days now means we will keep it out and see what the Dr's say tomorrow)
Abigail - you have been a little trooper these past few weeks. You don't seem to be suffering too much and are getting spoilt left, right and centre! You were even 'allowed' to eat lying down at Nannie and Daee's (pop) house this week! I think you are enjoying spending more time with them than me!

Lachlan - slowly but surely you are progressing ahead and doing well! Your operation seems to have all happened without a hitch. One of the hardest moments of my life watching you being wheeled away. Slowing we are getting the breast feeding happening but you get tired so quickly and need to be topped up via you NGT (nasal gastric tube) I hate it and so wish you didn't have it but it doesn't take away from your cuteness!

In the very early hours of the morning of the 20th of January we welcomed our little boy Lachlan into the world a whole month early!
We are delighted and besotted and in love.
Lachie was transferred to the NICU in the hospital where I have birth and later transferred to The Royal Children's Hospital due to other complications (which we did know about - but I haven't got around to discussing here yet. Lachlan has some kidney issues that need to be rectified)
I have discharged myself from hospital (about 12 hours after birthing him!) and I'm home with my husband and Abigail.
We think it's best to have some normality for Abs for now rather than me be in a hospital where my son isn't!
We have been allowed one quick cuddle and it's petty shit being home without him.
Hopefully it's bit too long a stay for him and he's home with us soon.
Yesterday I posted a pic on Instagram that got many many a like...

So I thought I'd show you how I came up with it!

The idea for the base came from Raspberri Cupcakes except I used Coco Pops and dark chocolate! Next time I would make 1/2 to 3/4 of the quantities for the base as I found it too thick.
And the actual cheesecake filling itself I have made many many times and is no bake and you don't need to bother with gelatine! I use THIS one.

We were having dinner at my parents house as it's been so bloody hot and we were going swimming, plus we were supposed to be meeting my youngest brothers girlfriend as Abi, Erin and I are the only ones to have yet meet her! Saving the best till last I say, but really our schedules have been the total opposite and it hasn't happened.
BUT! We still haven't met her! And by no means did it turn out to be a good thing. Her families farm was under threat from the Kangaroo Ground grass fire and my brother stayed to help them. Thankfully they are safe and the fire did not reach them, but I must say mum (& dad) were a wreck knowing that their 'golden child' was out there and amongst it.

The cake was delicious! and I will make it again! I do prefer a baked cheesecake but this one is pretty damn awesome!

My girl LOVING the party/BBQ boat and heading to the sand bar at Tocumwal on the river. Had an absolute blast! Not scared at all and happy to wear her life jacket! (didn't like the noisy ski boat though)

So only 3 sleeps till the big man in a red suit comes down the chimney!
I LOVE Christmas! I love everything about it and for that I have my mum (& family to thank) Mum decorates the house from top to toe and from one end to another and let me tell you their house it is BIG set on 80 acres the house is something like 100 squares!

We have been singing Christmas carols - Abi's favorite being Jingle Bells! If only I could get a recording of her doing it! Melts my heart I tell you! She is forever pointing out Christmas trees and Santas and LIGHTS! and more. (Oh and says "Merry Christmas Mr Buble" if listening to Michael Buble's Jingle Bells version!)

Its been a long tradition that dad's side of the family have their Christmas a week or so before actual Christmas day so everyone doesn't feel obliged to do the travelling and tooo'ing and fro'ing on Christmas day. That day was yesterday. I haven't been to one of these days on well over 10 years for one reason or another. I'm close to a few of dad's family but not all and really can't be bothered with it all. But as it was held at mum and dad's I could hardly NOT go seeing as I live 15 mins away from them... We had a lovely day! Organised a jumping castle (which the guy isn't picking up till Monday!) and 36 adults and children for a feast and booze and fun.
No fights or arguments to be had and I had a little girl that grinned from ear to ear all day.

Next up we will have the Christmas Eve extravaganza at mum and dad's which is totally awesome fun and we can not wait!
What's all the more special is that myself and my 3 siblings and our families all stay over Christmas Eve and all wake up together on Christmas morning!

Christmas day is all about our family and much of the time mum's family, or the majority of them at least.
Always a good time and my uncle has a daughter same age as Abi so the girls have a ball whenever they see each other.

Many years ago dad exclaimed that he was never leaving the house again on Christmas day and that was that. You want to see any of us you know where to find us. Suits us all down to the ground.

I adore my family and couldn't think of a better way to spend Christmas. One year away from them (spent with me hosting my ex's family) and never ever again. Tears all day from myself, mum and sister was enough for me to know exactly where I belong on Christmas day. Erin (my husband) has known about this since day dot and is more than happy to comply. (he will hate me but below I have a few snippets of last year and you might see that he seems to thoroughly enjoy himself.
I've been so bad! Lost the mojo again and just been enjoying spending time with my girl.
Quite possibly also not much to chat about???
Anyway, we have reached 30 weeks! Since the 12 week scan and 'reveal' it has just flown!
Dr's appointment on Thursday revealed that we are in head down position (not to say this wont and can't change) and everything going really well!

It's been really interesting to compare my bump pics from last time to now.
Not much difference I think?

Black singlet and photo to the left is CURRENT pregnancy and the white top on the right is when I was pregnant at 30 weeks with Abigail.
